Yahoososo “Virus” Removal (Chrome/Firefox)

Welcome to our Yahoososo removal instructions. This article intends to help you remove Yahoososo from your system and is designed to work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer and all Windows versions.

Is Yahoososo harmful to your computer?

Yahoososo is yet another recently released program of the Browser Hijacker type. It could be argued that it is here to fill your screen with ceaseless ads and generally make your browser experience pretty miserable. This might be a bit of an overstatement, depending on whether or not you mind box messages and banners popping-up every 30 seconds, while you are trying to get something done on the Internet. Don’t bother changing to a different browser. Neither Firefox nor Chrome (or any other browser for that matter) will save you from the rage-inducing ads. The good news is that your PC is still relatively safe. The bad news is that, until you find a way to wholly remove Yahoososo from your machine, the pop-ups just won’t stop.

First thing to remember here, is to never click on any of the adverts. There’s almost no chance that you may gain something useful from them. On the other hand there is some (even though small) chance, that you might land a more serious threat, such as an actual virus. This is more of an exception – most of the generated ads are legit and are not dangerous, but you should still not click on them, just in case. Here we should make it clear that Yahoososo is not a virus. Same applies to the rest of the Browser Hijackers type. They usually don’t do anything that may harm your system. In the worst scenario possible, they could track and record your browsing history, but worry not, this can hardly threaten your online security, since it is highly unlikely that the Browser Hijackers will have access to anything important. For the most part, such tracking will simply result in the customization of the ads you receive, so that they are more likely to appeal to you, based on your previous searches. In fact if you click on an ad (still, don’t do it), you may get redirected to a page that you have already visited. Know that if you have Yahoososo installed on your PC, your home page might get changed. This doesn’t always happen, but it is still a possible indication that you have the intrusive program on your computer.

How did you get Yahoososo?

Second thing that should be said about Yahoososo, is how it gets onto your machine. Since it is not a virus, but an actual program, it usually gets installed like other regular programs. Of course, no one would want an Browser Hijackers on their machine, so no one would willingly install the annoying software. Therefore, the developers of Yahoososo.com may often bundle it with other less undesirable programs. In most cases these programs are distributed for free – this makes them appealing, so that once you download and install such a program, you also get the bundled Browser Hijackers. Avoiding this is simple and easy – once you open the installation file do not go for the regular install. This will get you all added content that you may not want. Instead, look for the advanced/custom settings menu. In there, you should be able to see a list of everything added – usually new search engines and browser add-ons. Uncheck everything, that you suspect may be an Browser Hijackers or that you won’t need. And there you have it, you can be pretty sure that Yahoososo won’t get installed on your PC.

There are several less effective ways for Browser Hijackers distribution that we shall still mention. One of them is through spam e-mails. Usually, such e-mails will be automatically sent to the spam folder of your e-mail account, but it won’t hurt to remain vigilant, even when checking your regular letters. Other possibilities are torrents from shady sites and downloads from file-sharing pages. Generally, everything that looks suspicious, should probably be avoided. There’s no reason to expose your system to unnecessary risk- having Yahoososo installed is surely one of the lesser problems you can have from delving too deep into the darker corners of the Internet.

To sum it up, despite of its generally harmless nature Yahoososo is a program you’d be better off without. Not only is it deprived of any real value for the user, but it also has the potential to tick them into exposing their computers to an actual risk. Therefore, one should always double-check what they download and where they are downloading it from.
