In the even that you have recently become closely acquainted with a program called Link4droid, this is the place for you. Our removal guide will show you exactly how to deal with this issue and will walk you through the process of removing it once and for all. However, we do think it important that you understand what exactly Link4droid is and how it works, before you move on to uninstalling it, as this will help you avoid it in the future. To begin with, you are dealing with a browser hijacker and knowing the name of this type of software has probably instantaneously shed some light on some of the recent changes you’ve been experiencing on your portable android device. We’re talking about the probable change in browser homepage and default search engine. These are typical symptoms of having a browser hijacker on your system, but there are also a few others, such as the multitude of ads you are bound to have been seeing lately.
What’s this about and how did you get infected? Link4droid ‘Virus”
We will explain here why Link4droid should not be considered a virus. A browser hijacker serves the purpose of generating large amounts of banners, popups and box messages within your browser with the aim of getting users to interact with them. This in turn would result in the developers making a profit each time anyone clicks on or taps a given advert. But the way the developers strive to ensure higher gain based on this model is often considered by many as a violation of their privacy and you might want to consider this point. Browser hijackers can keep a close watch on your browsing activity, collecting details about your recent searches and the websites you visit. After this, the ads are then customized to match your interests, based on that data, and are distributed throughout your browser. This kind of activity often leads people to believe that Link4droid is a kind of virus. This is not so; in fact, it’s fully legal as opposed to actual viruses, which as any type of malicious software are against the law. However, there is another aspect, which raises additional concern and rightly so. Browser hijackers could, though very rarely, display ads that have been tampered with. It could happen that by interacting with one of these you might end up downloading some form of malware like ransomware, for example.
Unfortunately, programs like Link4droid come integrated within other apps, so you don’t really have the option of separating them before installation. Therefore, it’s best you research any apps you’re interested in prior to downloading them, in order to find out whether or not they come with any added components.
