Welcome to our Four “Virus” Android removal instructions. They should work on most Android devices.
“Your system is heavily damaged by Four virus!”
You have most probably found our article while searching for possible solutions to your current technical issue with Four “Virus”. If you have been greeted by a pop-up message similar to the screenshot below then you are dealing with the new Android menace called Four “Virus”.
This is a form of a browser hijacker and we are going to explain in details what this is in a minute. First though, let’s clarify something. You don’t really have a Four “Virus” installed on your device. “Your system is heavily damaged by Four virus!” is just not true, your system is not damaged.
This is a bogus message meant to trick you into installing some questionable software or potentially calling some fake “technicians”. Please do not fall for that. What you have is an app that triggers this type of fake pop-up warnings.
We have created the following page to help you remove your recent problems and successfully avoid them in the future. Here you are going to be given some important details about the program responsible for your annoyance as well as a step-by-step guide to help you uninstall it.
So let’s start with the nature and typical behavior of Browser Hijackers
You have already noticed that Four “Virus” causes the appearance of numerous ads in different forms – for example banners, new browser tabs or pop-ups. The programs, specialized in producing such a big number of ads inside your browser or any other software product, are popular under the common name Browser Hijacker.
If you have caught such a program, is it harmful to your device?
Actually, not at all. The possible bad influence that the Browser Hijacker may have on your system is really only limited to displaying many ads and probably disturbing your surfing activities. Apart from that, there is nothing malicious about that piece of software. Copying private account credentials or banking details, destroying or encrypting some files, spying on you or archiving your key strokes – none of those are related to Browser Hijacker, as opposed to actual viruses such as the most dangerous ransomware and Trojans.
Of course, it may possess some questionable features like researching your browsing history in order to be later capable of generating only ads that you will like and possibly click on. Also, sometimes such research into someone’s browsing habits could be sold to some interested vendors (3rd parties), who might use it in order to promote their products more efficiently. What is also worth mentioning is that some Browser Hijacker-type programs may generate ads that might redirect you to not particularly trustworthy websites, maybe containing Ransomware or other malware.
Four “Virus” is certainly not a virus, but how have I come across such software?
Although the ways of distribution of Four “Virus” might be very different (from infected torrents to contaminated websites), you most probably have gotten infected through a software bundle. A software bundle is any mixture of software and Browser Hijacker that you can download for free from the Internet. In case you have been naive enough to install a program from such a bundle in the easiest way possible – by choosing the Easy/ Default/ Automatic/ General type of installation from the wizard, that is exactly the Browser Hijacker was also stealthily installed alongside it. That is why you should always prefer using the other possible options of the installer that will give you detailed info about the software that is being incorporated into your machine. They may be marked as Custom or Advanced features. This is the general advice about avoiding Browser Hijacker – learn to complete the installation process in an adequate way.
What is Four “Virus”?
Four “Virus”, being identified as a typical Browser Hijacker-type program, possesses all the general characteristic features of Browser Hijacker as a whole. As you might expect, it is fully capable of showing as many ads as possible. This is very likely to appear extremely irritating to you. It does so, because its developers make money out of the ads. Money is the reason why some programmers mix their software with Browser Hijacker and create software bundles. Every single generated ad comes with a piece of income. Four “Virus” also works in that way. You know the standard – the more (ads), the better (amount of money).
Is there a chance to avoid and/or dispose of Four “Virus”?
If you are reading this article because your device has been contaminated, the removal guide you will find down here is especially prepared to eliminate Browser Hijacker. Just follow the given instructions and you will hopefully succeed in solving your ads-related issue. However, in case you have read the paragraphs above out of mere interest and curiosity, here we will suggest some simple, yet very efficient advice on prevention. What you need to do so as to ensure your device’s overall safety and your pleasant online experience is the following:
- Learn the clever installation options by heart and always use them. No excuses, this will save you from a lot of trouble;
- Invest in an anti-malware program with the best possible reputation. Its database will include all possible threats and that will enhance your overall security;
- Install a good Firewall and a decent pop-up blocker to at least prevent you from opening possibly dangerous webpages and their pop-up ads from appearing.
Good luck!
