Welcome to our Social2Search Ads removal instructions. This article intends to help you remove Social2Search Ads from your system and is designed to work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer and all Windows versions.
No, you have not won an Iphone…
…But you probably know that already, unless you have just started using the internet. But do you know what Adware is? You see, Adware are very likely to be the reason for these box messages or page redirects, which assure you, of being that lucky 10000th visitor, who has won a new smartphone. This is what Adware is supposed to do. Generation of intrusive ads is its main purpose. Once you have it installed and open your browser (Could be Mozilla, Chrome, IE, doesn’t really matter), the annoying banners will start popping up everywhere. Sometimes you might even be redirected to a page that has nothing but adverts in it. Just close those, really nothing useful about them. This specific article covers the general information you should know about Social2Search Ads – and what the word Adware really means. Since most such programs share similar features, what applies to Social2Search Ads, probably applies to the majority of other unwanted applications.
Is Social2Search Ads a “Virus”?
In fact many people refer to such intrusive software as a “virus”, but in this case the term is not correctly used. Social2Search Ads is surely an unwanted program, but it is very far from an actual virus, that can endanger your system. First of all, viruses are mostly illegally developed software, that is, without a doubt, harmful for your computer and can endanger your virtual privacy in more than one way. They are nasty and some of them can even render your PC useless. This cannot be said about the Adware type. Even though obstructive and intrusive, they hardly ever cause any real damage to your machine. Rather than being anything threatening, they are more of annoying and useless piece of software that you simply don’t need. Albeit, know that they can still potentially, through their ads, be harmful for your system. Here’s how this works. Let’s say you have Social2Search Ads installed. The program itself does nothing, apart from generating its ads. This doesn’t damage your PC. But should you click on any of the ads, there’s some chance that they might redirect you to a malicious, virus infested page. Furthermore, by clicking on any of the ads you might become a victim of some scam or be mislead into purchasing something that you wouldn’t otherwise. There’s no need to panic though. This happens quite rarely. But still, when it happens, it hurts, so just don’t click on those ads.
But how did it get on my computer?
You might want to know how Social2Search Ads actually gets to people’s computers. There are several possible ways that are generally similar. Most of the time Social2Search Ads infection happens when you download and install stuff from suspicious sites. This doesn’t mean that the sites or their downloadable contents should be illegal. Same thing applies to the Adware programs as well. The majority of them are legitimate and legal, but this doesn’t make them any less annoying and unwanted.
The intrusive program is bundled within the installation file you’ve downloaded and once you install that new free program, you also get the unwanted Adware. Preventing this is actually quite simple and easy. Most people are just not careful enough. Once you open the installation file, you should be able to see all added content that goes with the main install. This will often include a new search engine and some browser add-ons. Social2Search Ads is probably going to be among them. Note that it could go under a different name there. Just uncheck everything that you think might be an actual Adware program and you should be fine. Also consider visiting sites with good reviews that are generally popular among internet users. That way you may never need to actually deal with Social2Search Ads. It should go without saying, but don’t open any spam e-mails. Some of them might also contain the intrusive Adware.
In most cases, simply paying a bit extra attention during your online experience is going to save you the need to deal with any kind of intrusive software. If you still want to reassure yourself, that you won’t get any unwanted add-generating programs on your PC, you might want to buy an anti-Adware program. Those can help you with both the prevention of Social2Search Ads getting installed on your computer and with its removal. Just remember that it is much easier to keep the obstructive piece of software away, than to have it removed. The reason for that is, because in most cases a simple uninstall just won’t cut it. What other steps you might need to take, apart from uninstalling it, is going to be explained to in our guide below.
|Medium (The intrusive ads will make it difficult for you to use your browser effectively; XXX might track your browser activity and sell the data for profit).
